Economic Cybernetics Department

Economic Cybernetics Department of Kharkiv national university of economics was established as "Department of economic-mathematical methods" in June 1994 on the basis of economic informatics and automated control systems faculty. At the same year there was a first admission of students for "Economic Cybernetics" major. In December 1997 the department was renamed to the Department of Economic Cybernetics.

From the moment of establishment up to this date the department is headed by professor Tamara S. Klebanova - Doctor of Economic Science, academician of Ukrainian Academy of economic cybernetics, member of International Association of Applied Mathematics and Mechanics (GAMM), member of Ukrainian Association of economic cybernetics. Scientific school established by T.S. Klebanova includes more than 34 candidates and doctors of science.

Academics of the department are high-qualified specialists in economic-mathematical modeling and information technologies. Academics of the department are members of "Ukrainian association of economic cybernetics". 3 professors (including 2 doctors of science), 9 associate professors work at the Economic Cybernetics department. More than 75% of department academics have scientific degrees, where as an average age of academics is 35 years.

Academics of the department participate in national and international educational projects, take an active part in scientific work. For 15 years of the department's existence 33 monographs and 33 tutorials and textbooks have been published.

The department of economic cybernetics is a graduating department for majors: "Economic cybernetics" (bachelor's and master's educational levels), "Applied economics" (master's level). More than 200 students have graduated from the department. Young specialists succeed in various fields of economic activity as economists-analysts at large manufacturing companies; analysts at banks and insurance companies, advertising agencies, tax administration; CEOs at private firms; top managers; financial officers and university academics.
There is an active scientific work and admission for full-time and extramural postgraduate and doctoral degrees with majors 08.00.11 - mathematical methods, models and informational technologies in economy. 29 candidates of science and 1 doctor of economic science have graduated from the department.

In September 2009 a system of distance education was launched. It enables students to obtain access to educational materials, control results of studying, receive timely and qualitative assistance from academics as well as spend time with interest and benefits. In order to use these up-to-date means of personal distance education one only needs a computer with an access to Internet.

The fourth year the Department together with our colleagues from different countries carries out scientific and practical conference “THE MODERN PROBLEMS OF SOCIAL AND ECONOMIC SYSTEMS MODELING” in april 9-10.
